February's Council Meeting

Here is February 2009's meeting in summary:

People's Freeway Community Council boundaries were discussed. They are: 700 South to 2100 south and State Street, to the freeway.

There was a housing violation at 1708 S Richards street. A hearing was held February 11, @12:45.

The house at 1812 South West Temple is the site for the new 'Taylor Springs' development. Construction is anticipated to start in April. Upon completion of this project, the club house will be the council's new meeting spot.

Nathan Anderson proposed a development for Merrimack ave. He requested to change the zoning from RMF 35 to RMF 75. He wants to eliminated the back alley access to the property.

Melissa B. is starting a 'Liberty Park Citizen's Advocacy group' to help raise awareness around the structures planned for development in the park.

Jill Remington Love, our City Council Representative summarized some things in the city planning. The development north of 1300 south and west of 300 west is still in the works. Target is planning to build on this location and though they have cut some of their other projects because of the economy, this one is still proceeding for now.
The city is facing a major budget deficit. They are working hard to balance the budget and are looking for the least threatening way to cut back.

Detective Christiansen gave an update on the crime in our area and answered questions.

March meeting will be held on Thursday, March 5 at 7 pm. The Horizonte School, 1234 S Main Street.
